ways to get grounded

You know those thoughts that replay over and over and over again? Or those shoulda, coulda, wouldas you just can't shake?

Us psychologists call this type of thought distortion "rumination."

Technically speaking, rumination is the tendency to think repetitively about the causes, process, and consequences of a situation or experience.

Essentially, rumination is a repeated focus on on the problem rather than the possible solutions!

Mindful meditation defeats rumination.

Grounding is a form of this.

Here are 11 ways to #GetGrounded (because even numbers are overrated) and some of them take as little as 0.01 seconds:

1. Cover the crown of your head

2. Roll around on the floor

3. Sit on the ground

4. Go outside and plant your feet in the grass

5. Close your eyes and visualize your breath traveling in and out as you breathe

6. Move your hands through water or sand

7. Pick a flower and smell it

8. Squeeze your hands together

9. Hum (hmmmmmm)

10. Stand up and press your feet in the ground

11. Take a cold or hot shower or bath

Now's your turn to come up with not one, not two, but three more things that you can do to root your body, mind, and spirit in the present moment.
