I'm back

Got up to 90kg and it's time to be a bit more mindful of my eating habits.

Right, Noom has given me an assignment.

When we introduced this set of lessons, we told you that the forces in your life are all the people, places, and things - both internal and external - that impact your path. And now we're going to identify them.

How do forces (school, work, kids, your partner, your friends, anything) impact your life positively or negatively?

Write down all the thoughts you have about the forces in your life and consider

  • Which forces come to mind immediately?
  • What have you learned about how different forces impact your journey?
  • What are the biggest forces, and what are the forces playing a supporting role?
  • Which forces work for you, and which forces work against your goals?
Hmm. what are my goals in this context? For the first half of 2025?

Running goals - half marathon PB, 25 min 5k. Run and interval train 3x a week.

Weight goal - 84.9kg in six months.

What forces?

  • My partner
  • My work
  • My workmates
  • My friends and whanau
My partner, friends and workmates get me out running and I've found it has to be a peer pressure thing for me to do it. Or at least to get to the short term goals I set.

My work is unsettling and a little stressful at the moment (though it's not consuming lots of time with after hours work and stuff). That isn't helping. I've been stress eating and missing fitness things because of it. Hmm, that last one is just excuses really.

My workmates, friends and whanau take me out for beers and out for dinner which isn't helpful. But I'm not drinking this month and going out for ginger beers is easy. That's on me.

The biggest forces are ... well it's in the order above I reckon. "Forces" is a good word. In the context of my goals they'll support me in what I want to do if I let them, or distract me from them if I let them. They're all wonderful people who will help me.
